Happy Spring Day! The first of September is when the whole country seems to exhale — windows open, the heavy blankets come off, and the house gets a proper airing for the first time in months. To mark the day, our bed set specials are running with up to 55% off selected bed sets, mattresses and furniture. Browse the Spring Day specials here.
Why spring is the right time to replace a bed
Spring cleaning has a way of exposing what you have been ignoring all winter. When the mattress comes off the base to be turned and aired, that is usually the moment people notice the dip in the middle, the spring they can feel through the top panel, or simply admit they have been sleeping badly for a lot longer than they thought.
Most mattresses have a useful life of roughly eight to ten years. If yours is past that, or if you consistently wake up stiffer than when you went to bed, it is not doing you any favours. Spring is also the easiest time of year to deal with it: the bedroom is already being turned out, and taking delivery of a new bed is far less disruptive in mild weather than in the middle of a summer thunderstorm.
The bed set specials worth looking at first
The deepest reductions in this sale are on the Adjustable Motion Bed range. These pair an electrically adjustable base with a compatible mattress, so the head and the feet raise independently — which makes a real difference if you read in bed, snore, or have reflux or circulation trouble.
The three deepest reductions in the Spring Day sale.
The single is down 56% and the queen 55%, the largest discounts on the site at the moment. Beyond the motion beds there are more than 150 products on promotion, including the Comfort Deluxe, Metaverse and Eurotop Comfort ranges in sizes from single up to super king.
Furniture, bundles and mattresses are in the sale too
It is not only complete beds that have come down. The promotion runs across several categories:
Bed sets — the bulk of the sale, base and mattress bought together as a matched pair.
Furniture — including the adjustable motion bed range.
Mattresses only — the sensible choice when the base is still sound and only the top needs replacing.
Bundle deals — sets packaged with a headboard and ottoman, which normally works out cheaper than buying the pieces one at a time.
Get the size right before you order
The regret we hear most often is not about firmness — it is about size. A king is about 30cm wider than a queen, which is the difference most couples notice immediately, and it is worth measuring the room before you commit rather than after the delivery van arrives.
Two things are easy to overlook. Length is one: a standard bed is 188cm long, so anyone near or over six foot should be looking at an extra-length option at 200cm. Clearance is the other — leave at least 60cm on any side you need to walk down, or you will spend the next decade shuffling past the corner of the base. Our guide to bed sizes in South Africa sets out every size in full if you want to check before ordering.

Everything in the promotion is on one page, and stock on the sharper reductions does not tend to last. If your winter turn-out has just confirmed what you already suspected about your mattress, this is the week to do something about it.
