Buying a Bed Online in South Africa: What to Know
The obvious objection to buying a bed online is that you cannot lie on it. It is a fair point — and it matters less than you would think, because the two minutes people spend lying on a mattress in a showroom, fully dressed, in shoes, tells them very little about how they will sleep on it for eight hours.
What does predict that is the specification. Learn to read it and you can buy online with more confidence than most showroom buyers have.
Buying a bed online comes down to four numbers
Size. Get it from a tape measure, not a guess. Our size guide lists every width, and measuring your room covers clearance and access.

Spring type. Foam, bonnell spring or pocket spring, and they behave quite differently — particularly if a partner moves at night. Foam, bonnell and pocket spring covers it.
Weight rating. The supported weight per sleeper, per side. It is the most overlooked specification in bedding and the one most likely to cause a bed to fail early — why it matters most.
Use the filters properly

Do not forget the base
If you are buying a mattress alone, the base you are keeping has to be up to it — a sagging base will finish a new mattress early and take the warranty with it. Bed set or mattress only is the five-minute check.
Budget for the bits around it
A mattress protector should go on the same order, because a stain usually ends a warranty claim before it starts. Add linen in the right size — especially for XL or super king, where it is less widely stocked — and pillows if yours are older than about two years.
Delivery, and then the first few weeks
