Bed Brands Explained: Who Makes What

Guide to the bed brands stocked by Bedworld in South Africa

Walk into any bed shop and the bed brands blur together within minutes. Every one of them promises support and comfort, and none of the marketing tells you what actually separates them. Here is the plain version of what we stock and where each fits.

The bed brands we carry, and what they are for

Cloud Nine — 187 options and our widest range. A long-established South African manufacturer with a broad spread from entry level to genuinely premium, which makes it the easiest brand to compare like for like across budgets.

Restonic — 182 options. Best known for support-focused construction, and the brand people most often arrive asking for by name when they have back trouble.

Henwood — 110 options, and the one we are asked about most at the luxury end. We wrote about the range separately in top quality Henwood bed sets.

Rest Assured — 78 options, a solid mid-to-upper range with a strong reputation for longevity.

The ones people overlook

Hospitality at 175 options is built for hotels and guesthouses, which means it is specified for far heavier use than a domestic bed. For a guest room or a rental property that is exactly the right trade-off.

Value Buys at 88 options is our budget range, and worth saying plainly: it is a real mattress at a real price, not a compromise that falls apart. For a spare room, a student flat or a first bed, it does the job.

Signature Collection at 152 and Bamboo Beds at 17 round out the middle.

Why the brand matters less than the specification

Here is the part no showroom will tell you: within any of these brands you will find a firm and a plush, a foam and a pocket spring, a low and a high weight rating. A premium brand’s entry model and a value brand’s top model are closer than the badges suggest.

So use the brand to set your budget bracket, then choose on specification: the spring type, the comfort rating and the weight rating. Those three decide how you actually sleep.

Comparing across brands

The filters on our shop page let you set a size and a comfort rating and then see every brand that matches, which is a far better way to shop than working through one manufacturer at a time.

If you would rather just describe the problem — a bad back, a restless partner, a spare room on a budget — tell us and we will point at the two or three models worth comparing.
